Maar is ooglaseren bij diabetes wel veilig? En wanneer ben je w\u00e9l of juist niet geschikt voor een behandeling? In deze blog leggen onze specialisten van het Nationaal Oogcentrum uit wat de mogelijkheden zijn en waar we extra op letten.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"715\" data-end=\"755\">Diabetes en de gezondheid van de ogen<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"757\" data-end=\"1086\">Diabetes mellitus is een chronische stofwisselingsziekte waarbij het suikergehalte in het bloed verhoogd is. Langdurig verhoogde bloedsuikers kunnen invloed hebben op verschillende organen, waaronder de ogen. De bekendste oogcomplicatie bij diabetes is diabetische retinopathie: schade aan de kleine bloedvaatjes in het netvlies.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1088\" data-end=\"1154\">Daarnaast kan diabetes ook andere oogproblemen veroorzaken, zoals:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1155\" data-end=\"1337\">\n<li data-start=\"1155\" data-end=\"1223\">\n<p data-start=\"1157\" data-end=\"1223\">wisselende oogsterkte door schommelingen in de bloedsuikerspiegel;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1224\" data-end=\"1261\">\n<p data-start=\"1226\" data-end=\"1261\">verhoogde kans op staar (cataract);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1262\" data-end=\"1291\">\n<p data-start=\"1264\" data-end=\"1291\">problemen met wondgenezing;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1292\" data-end=\"1337\">\n<p data-start=\"1294\" data-end=\"1337\">droge ogen door verminderde traanproductie.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1339\" data-end=\"1452\">Juist deze factoren zijn van belang bij het beoordelen of iemand met diabetes in aanmerking komt voor ooglaseren.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1454\" data-end=\"1493\">Is ooglaseren bij diabetes mogelijk?<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1495\" data-end=\"1662\">Het korte antwoord: ja, ooglaseren bij diabetes <em data-start=\"1543\" data-end=\"1548\">kan<\/em> in sommige gevallen veilig en succesvol worden uitgevoerd. Maar er zijn wel extra voorwaarden en aandachtspunten:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1664\" data-end=\"2421\">\n<li data-start=\"1664\" data-end=\"1862\">\n<p data-start=\"1666\" data-end=\"1862\"><strong data-start=\"1666\" data-end=\"1697\">Goede bloedsuikerregulatie:<\/strong> de diabetes moet goed onder controle zijn. Idealiter is de HbA1c-waarde stabiel en niet te hoog.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1863\" data-end=\"2078\">\n<p data-start=\"1865\" data-end=\"2078\"><strong data-start=\"1865\" data-end=\"1907\">Geen actieve diabetische retinopathie:<\/strong> bij actieve netvliesproblemen of bloedingen is ooglaseren meestal niet geschikt. Als de retinopathie goed behandeld is en stabiel blijft, kan het in sommige gevallen w\u00e9l.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2079\" data-end=\"2227\">\n<p data-start=\"2081\" data-end=\"2227\"><strong data-start=\"2081\" data-end=\"2105\">Stabiele oogsterkte:<\/strong> diabetes kan schommelingen in de refractie veroorzaken. We willen zeker weten dat de oogsterkte al enige tijd stabiel is.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2228\" data-end=\"2421\">\n<p data-start=\"2230\" data-end=\"2421\"><strong data-start=\"2230\" data-end=\"2252\">Gezond hoornvlies:<\/strong> het hoornvlies moet voldoende dik zijn en een goede structuur hebben. Bij sommige mensen met diabetes is de genezing van het hoornvlies trager, wat extra nazorg vraagt.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-start=\"2423\" data-end=\"2474\">Wanneer wordt ooglaseren bij diabetes afgeraden?<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2476\" data-end=\"2551\">In de volgende situaties is ooglaseren meestal niet mogelijk:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2553\" data-end=\"2809\">\n<li data-start=\"2553\" data-end=\"2598\">\n<p data-start=\"2555\" data-end=\"2598\">Bij slecht gereguleerde bloedsuikerwaarden.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2599\" data-end=\"2652\">\n<p data-start=\"2601\" data-end=\"2652\">Bij actieve of gevorderde diabetische retinopathie.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2653\" data-end=\"2731\">\n<p data-start=\"2655\" data-end=\"2731\">Bij diabetische macula-oedeem (vocht in het centrale deel van het netvlies).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2732\" data-end=\"2809\">\n<p data-start=\"2734\" data-end=\"2809\">Bij andere bijkomende oogafwijkingen zoals glaucoom of ernstige droge ogen.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2811\" data-end=\"2944\">In deze gevallen kan een alternatieve behandeling, zoals een bril, contactlenzen of soms refractieve lensvervanging, geschikter zijn.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2946\" data-end=\"2989\">Het belang van een grondig vooronderzoek<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2991\" data-end=\"3181\">Bij het Nationaal Oogcentrum voeren we altijd een uitgebreid vooronderzoek uit voordat we een ooglaserbehandeling adviseren. Voor mensen met diabetes controleren we daarbij extra zorgvuldig:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"3183\" data-end=\"3403\">\n<li data-start=\"3183\" data-end=\"3252\">\n<p data-start=\"3185\" data-end=\"3252\">de gezondheid van het netvlies (met netvliesonderzoek of OCT-scan);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3253\" data-end=\"3305\">\n<p data-start=\"3255\" data-end=\"3305\">de stabiliteit van de bloedsuiker en de refractie;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3306\" data-end=\"3350\">\n<p data-start=\"3308\" data-end=\"3350\">de genezingscapaciteit van het hoornvlies;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3351\" data-end=\"3403\">\n<p data-start=\"3353\" data-end=\"3403\">eventuele bijkomende oog- of gezondheidsproblemen.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"3405\" data-end=\"3533\">Alleen wanneer aan alle medische voorwaarden wordt voldaan, kunnen we een veilige en verantwoorde ooglaserbehandeling aanbieden.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"3535\" data-end=\"3585\">Persoonlijk advies bij het Nationaal Oogcentrum<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"3587\" data-end=\"3926\">Heb je diabetes en overweeg je ooglaseren?
